Do bloggers need a break? Yes, they do :)

Although it looks as if I have been neglecting blog posting in recent days – maybe weeks -, the truth is “No, I don’t – Yes, maybe”. The answer may sound very sincere and thorough, and it may also need some further explanation.

One reason for the decrease of posts is that the same old issues KTG has often reported about in the past keep landing in the news recycling bin:  taxes, taxes, taxes. And so-called “regulations to combat tax evasion”,  an always increasing bureaucracy that deprive people from the last breath. Decisions and modified decisions on receipts taxpayers have too collect, new taxes, new fees, new levies. Decisions that are often modified or withdrawn about the public outcry. Then the primary surplus, the lays-offs, the non-stop list full of Troika’s demands. The outstanding debts to the state and the social security funds, debts that people cannot afford to pay. Then the unemployment, the closure of businesses, the cuts in health care sector. One suicide here, one suicide attempt there.

How many times per week do you want to read about these issues of Greece in austerity and a society in despair? Do you really want to know how many millions and billions of euro people should pay? Well, me, personally I could digest such news once in …erhm… 3 weeks?

Another reason for the thrifty reporting is that I have been dealing with some project lately that had to be delivered on time. Spending most of the day concentrated on an issue that has nothing to do with ‘reporting misery about Greece’, it is not the easiest task to switch to news reporting during the lunch or coffee break especially when there are not urgent developments to report about or  no interesting story that standout from the waste landscape of numbers, figures, statistics, outstanding debts and taxation regul-strangulations.

A third reason is that also bloggers need a break. They need distance to what they do on a daily basis, they need time to reflect, to charge their batteries,  reload inspiration and restart  creativity.

A fourth reason is that also bloggers have a life, a family, duties and daily tasks 🙂

PS ABC to avoid burn out lol

  1. Hi I would agree that everyone needs a rest once in a while to reflect and recharge thier batteries.
I am an English expat living out my retirement in Greece and would like to thank you for you explanations of what is happening in Greece in language we can understand and with humour.
So take a rest but don’t give up, or as we say in England “Don’t let the B***ards grind you down”
Don’t take too long a break, will keep logging on to see.

  2. Totally agree with you! Everyone needs a break sometimes. I feel the same way (although I think I have probably taken too long a time away from my website). Maybe the general depression that exists in Athens has finally got to me.
Anyway, return when it’s right for you, I always enjoy reading what you have to say.

    • thank you @AthensLiving. Too long breaks are not good, I think, because we lose the ‘red thread’ and do not know with what to start again – at least this happens to me. And yes, the general depressive mood does not help much either: one runs out of ideas and inspiration.

  3. Hi…please don’t worry you have been great so far, since I have got to know about you.
Always witty and full of fun, I just love your anecdotes at the end of each section of news they are amusing.
I am also truly grateful for the info you send on a daily basis, it cannot be easy…..so take a break, enjoy this “lull” you are experiencing, we are still going to be here for you.
From on every very grateful fan……you must know ME by now..!!!!
