Femicide in Drama, northern Greece: A police officer stabbed his wife to death several times and then took his own life with his service weapon.
The 40-year-old victim was also a police officer.
The couple’s 10-year-old child called the authorities and reported that his mother was heavily injured in the basement of their home.
The new femicide in the country took place in the city of Drama on Monday afternoon, June 15.
According to information, an argument between husband and wife preceded the brutal murder.
Police and ambulance rushed to the scene and transported the still alive woman to the hospital. She was in critical condition and succumbed to her injuries on Monday evening, two hours after she was stabbed.
According to initial information, the victim was stabbed 3 times, one in the chest, one in the back and one in the face.
After the incident, a passerby called the authorities and reported that a man with a gunshot wound was found in his car.
The 50-year-old officer left the house after stabbing his wife and before the ambulance arrived. he got on his car and drove to a small forest in the area. He allegedly committed suicide using his service weapon.
The couple has another child, a daughter who is a student in Thessaloniki.
From what has been known so far from police sources, there is no history of domestic violence in the couple.
Investigations into the exact circumstances of the tragedy are ongoing.

The perpetrator served in the Hellenic Police Department in Drama, while the victim served in the Border Guard Department in Nevrokopi.

The police officer was ordered to be examined by the Hellenic Police psychiatrist. However, he did not detect anything worrisome.
