A argument with fists among members of a British family on vacation on the island of Crete ended up in one arrest over the weekend.
Arrested has been a 31-year-old British national who beat his 39-year-old partner and thus in front of the eyes of their two minor children.
According to reports, the man went violent after his partner had an argument with her 54-year-old “mother-in-law” who had also beaten and abused the woman.
It was loud noises on Saturday night coming from a hotel room in Kamisiana by Chania, that woke up the other residents and the hotel employees, who informed the police.
Five British people were staying in the room, a 39-year-old woman with her 31-year-old partner, his 54-year-old mother and two minor children. One is a 9-year-old from a previous marriage of the 39-year-old and the second is a 3-year-old child she had with the 31-year-old.
According to local media, for reasons unknown at this time, a fight broke out between the 39-year-old and her 54-year-old “mother-in-law”, resulting in the 39-year-old being injured in the head.
The 31-year-old man was also involved in the violent incident, hitting his partner.
The police officers who went to the scene brought all three adults to the Domestic Violence Department, where the man arrested ex officio. The victim stated that she did not want him or his mother to be prosecuted.
The 39-year-old victim, who suffered facial injuries, stated that she initially got into an argument with her partner’s mother, who, in addition to insulting her, also acted violently against her by pulling her by the hair and punching her in the face.
Then, her 31-year-old partner also took action, punching her in the face, the victim stated further.
Even though, the victim did not want the prosecution of her partner and his mother, authorities ordered a forensic investigation into the woman’s serious injuries.
