Not one, not two, not three… a bunch of six public opinion polls were published over the weekend, and a seventh one on Monday. SYRIZA withholds the first position however with heavy losses when compared to the January elections and with no significant difference to conservative New Democracy. According to the seven public opinion polls, SYRIZA is ahead of ND with a rate difference between 1% and 3.5%. Something that does not exclude a surprise result on September 20th, like a dangerously close race between between SYRIZA and New Democracy or even an overturn of expectations.

1) conducted by MRB for newspaper Agora:
SYRIZA 29.6% ND 27.4% Golden Dawn 7.5% To Potami 6.7% KKE 5.7% Union of Centrists 5.7% Popular Unity 5.1% PASOK 4.7% ANEL 2.8%.
Other parties 4.8% Undecided voters: 16.9%.
2) conducted for ISKRA, the website of Lafazanis:
SYRIZA 22% ND 24% Golden Dawn 9% To Potami 6% KKE 8% Union of Centrists 3.2 % Popular Unity 10% PASOK 4.5% Papandreou’s party 3.5%.
3) Kapa Research for daily To VIMA
SYRIZA 27.3% ND 24.2% Golden Dawn 6.8% To Potami 5.5% KKE 5% Union of Centrists 3.3 % Popular Unity 4.8% PASOK 4.3% ANEL 3%.
Undecided 13.2%
What is interesting is the rate of “undecided” voters. Their rate lies between 16.9% and 25%.
However, many sober analysts think it is “too early to say with certainty” how undecided Greeks will cast their votes” taking also into consideration that “new political alliances will arise.”
Alliances & development in political parties
• Parliament Speaker Zoi Konstantopoulou (ex SYRIZA) is expected to announce her own party later on Monday. She is expected to join alliance with Lafazanis’ Popular Unity.
• PASOK invited ex PM Papandreou (ex PASOK) to join forces in the elections war. However PASOK leader Fofi Genimatas had a precondition for the alliance: that Papandreou refrains from putting his name on the elections lists. He denied and it is not clear, how and whether the two socialist parties will manage an unofficial alliance after all.
• Radical-left wing ANTARSYA was supposed to join forces with Lafazanis’ Popular Unity, however some Antarsya members opposed the alliance. At the every end some of ANTARSYA members will join Lafazanis and help him gain some 1%.
• According to Greek media, some former MPs from ND and PASOK approached the Union of the Centrists but party leader Leventis turned down their request to be put on the list in election-able position. Here is to note that Vassilis Leventis and his Union of Centrists are expected to pass the 3% threshold and enter the Parliament after more than 20 years of struggle.
Meanwhile SYRIZA is torn apart not only due to Lafazanis’ rebels but also due to the ‘fight’ between its officials or government officials, some of them belonging formerly to PASOK, like Mitropoulos and Spirtzis.
The fight is inevitable not only in SYRIZA but also in all other parties as in these elections candidates will be put on the ballots according to lists and voters will not have to put a cross next to the name of their favorite candidate.
What is certain is that SYRIZA will lose a significant number of “borrowed votes” the left-wing party “borrowed” from other parties in January elections due to the momentum and the memorandum- and austerity-tired voters. But SYRIZA disappointed many of its voters as it lined up with the previous governments of PASOK and ND and mutated into a systemic pro-memorandum party that brought another loan and another bailout with austerity measures. Some critics claim that SYRIZA slowly mutates into a party belonging to Tsirpas – oh no! that’s not leftist and collective at all! -, while the rest of SYRIZA officials establish their own political formations.
What is still open is the main dilemma in the upcoming elections: Austerity Yes or No? Euro or Drachma? Which party is most suitable to manage the crisis and take the country out of the crisis? The agenda of these elections has not been outlined yet.
What is also considered as certain is that Independent Greeks (ANEL), the junior partner of SYRIZA government will most likely do not manage to enter the Parliament – if we trust the majority of the opinion polls.
Another point worth mentioning is that while public opinion polls rates raise the far-rights of Golden Dawn to third party, Greek media do not pay the relevant attention. They just ignore it. However, talking among themselves concerned citizens predict a much higher rate for GD at the elections, even a double -digit one.

Apparently, Ms. Konstantopoulou decided to align herself with the Popular Unity party of Mr. Lafazanis. She stated she will be “independent” collaborator.
“Undecided”? Totally manipulating as they only ask voters, otherwise the opinion polls would indicate non-voters in the lead in numbers alarmingly much higher than ND and SYRIZA voters together, this will be a vote historically resulting in the coalition of the minority of voters against the majority of non-voters.
