Granny “Without Borders” opens her house to refugees (video)

Panagiota Vasileiadou is an 82-year-old granny. Her home in in the village of Idomeni, the village very close to the camp that has been hosting at times more than 12,000 refugees and migrants. Granny Panagiota has witnessed hundreds of refugees begging for food to feed their children or clean water to shower and wash their clothes.

She opened her house to a refugee family from Iraq and provides food, clothes and a soft bed even if she is not a billionaire.

As a daughter of ethnic Greek refugees, she herself left Turkey in a population exchange after the 1919-1922 Greco-Turkish war and is now doing all she can to help the latest wave of refugees by giving out food and clothes.

The Greek border village of Idomeni is home to some 150 people, most of whom are pensioners. It has witnessed the results of an influx of an estimated one million refugees and migrants to Europe over the last year.
