A human tragedy: the husband of a 45-year-old woman made a horrible finding when he entered his home on Wednesday. His wife with open wrists, his wife’s 4-year-old niece dead. The woman was still alive and was taken to the hospital to receive medical aid. She reportedly confessed to have strangled her little niece.
According to police, “the child was strangled to death” and the woman has confessed to have killed the child. The motive was still not determined.
According to Greek media, the little girl was the daughter of the woman’s sister, allegedly a drug addict who could not take care of the child once it was born. The aunt took the baby and was taking care of it ever since.
She had tried to gain custody of the child but the real mother denied it. The mother reportedly wanted the child back.
The aunt was apparently not able to find another solution other than to kill the child and commit suicide…
The tragedy took place in the village of Megara, 25 km west from Athens.
