Young Briton, 17, in critical condition after fall from hotel balcony; one arrest

A young Briton, a 17-year-old boy, was seriously injured after he fell from the balcony of a hotel in the Athens district of Halandri at around 5:00 on Friday morning.

According to latest information, the boy is “brain dead.”

Police later arrested a 37-year-old kiosk employee who is accused of selling alcohol to the minor and his friend, after they displayed a fake driving license.

The boy’s friend was found highly intoxicated in the hotel room the two shared.

The young Briton fell from the first-floor balcony of a hotel in Halandri, from a height of four meters.

The circumstances of the fall have yet to be clarified.

He sustained multiple injuries and was taken to Erythros Stavros Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.

“He is struggling for his live,” media reported at noon on Friday, while in early afternoon they reported that the injured boy was “brain dead”.

The two boys were on vacation in Greece reportedly together with the parents of the injured one.

The 37-year-old employee has been charged with exposure to deadly danger and violations of the law on the sale of alcohol and tobacco.

Authorities continue the investigation.
