Reform Debate in Greek Parliament interrupted, Speaker expels Golden Dawn MP

The debate on Pensions Reform was interrupted short before 6 o’clock Sunday afternoon just a couple of hours before the voting at midnight. Fierce quarrel with open insults occurred between a Syriza minister and two MPs of the right-extremists of Golden Dawn MPs with the Parliament Speaker to expel one of them.

The first quarrel occurred between between Environment Minister Panos Skourletis and Golden Dawn MP Christos Pappas with the latter claiming that his party is against violence and the first shouting at him “You support the gas chambers! You’re implicated in murders!” Skourletis accused Pappas that he had threatened his family.

Other GD MPs started to shout at the Minister “you’re stupid, shame on you.”

According to Skai TV, GD MP Yannis Lagos started to shout “vulgar expressions” at Skourletis and claiming “you’ve become buddies with terrorists!”

The presiding Parliament Speaker asked Lagos to leave the Plenary, the GD MP refused to do so, and the Speaker called the head of the Parliament Garrison to accompany Lagos outside the hall.

Initially, the Speaker wanted to interrupt the session until Lago was out of the hall. Other GD MPs reportedly took position in front of him to protect him, they were screaming and Lagos was shouting “Bring the riot police over to get me out of here.”

With the Speaker threatening to interrupt the session, GD MPs was shouting “Better so, so that no voting would take place.”

The session was interrupted and the live-streaming from the debate was cut too… According to latest news coming from the Parliament, Lagos was still in the Plenary hall.

The debate resumed about an hour later. Lagos refused to leave the hall, the Pseaker fined him with a “15-day expulsion” during which the GD MP has no right to take the floor.
