Workers at urban train ISAP, metro and tram will launch a 48-hour strike from Saturday morning, May 21st until Monday morning May 23rd 2016.
Workers at blue buses and trolley buses will join with a 24-hour strike from Sunday morning until Monday morning (22-23 May 2016).
The strikes begin and end with the first shift at 5 or 6 a.m.
Unions of workers at trains and proastiakos will not join the strike on the weekend, “because passengers have already bought their tickets,” the union said in a statement. They will decide on upcoming Monday how they will proceed.
The strike was rather expected after the multi-bill submitted to the Parliament foresees also the privatization of the public transport organizations of Athens. The bill will be voted on Sunday evening.
And how will anti-austerity protesters will go to Syntagma to raise their voices against the bill? On foot or on donkey…
PS and who to they punish with their strike? Certainly not the lawmakers who will vote in favor of the bill but rather the low incomers and the jobless who cannot afford a private car or taxi. Well done, comrades.
