Donald Trump – Inauguration day. The 45th president of the United States of America has been sworn into office. In his inaugural Donald Trump repeated the slogan “Make America Great Again” and promised “America First”, “Build America Again.”
Exaggerated patriotism that reminded me of the final speech in Independence Day and any other Hollywood film pledging to unite the nation against alien invasion, farmers hugging capitalists, teenies falling in love and respectable grannies going hand in hand with hard-core outcasts.
Populism and Nationalism to the extreme.
The absolute introversion.
I don;t know… apart of the American society might need to hear such rhetoric.
I can’t tell.
US debt stands currently at 20 trillion dollars, over 100% of GDP. Hopium dealer Obama during his 8 year reign added almost 10 trillion dollar to the national debt, more than all previous US presidents combined. The first thing he did was to give Americans banks a 800 billion dollar bailout (he inherited that bill from Bush though) without nationalizing them or ask anything for it in return. The banks laughed all the way to their banks and gave themselves a 125 billion Christmas bonus that year. Iceland jailed more bankers than did Obama’s DOJ. The FED’s QE helped Wall Street but not main street.
He also went after more whistleblowers than any US president did, although he commuted Manning’s sentence. Nobel peace prize winner Obama had been at war for every day for his 8 year term, longer than any president before him. In 2009 he held a speech at the University of Cairo, hailing new relations with the Islamic world. There was much rejoicing but if people would have known then what it would lead to, they would not have been so cheerful. A few years later Mubarak (a long time ally of the US) was out of power and in the docks. The Muslim Brotherhood almost took over the country. A military coup prevented that (Obama complained about the interference in democracy but with the MBH there would have been an Islamic dictatorship. Obama kept his promise to pull out (most) troops out of Iraq but his foreign policy there could not prevent the rise of ISIS. Obama’s and Clinton’s policy concerning the ‘Arab Spring’ in MENA led to a string of cluster fucks in Libya, Syria and Yemen. The nuclear deal with Iran helps that country to get ever closer to developing nuclear weapons which will spark off a nuclear arms race in the ME.
All the above is the legacy of Obama.
I don’t know why anybody would want to inherit such a situation. Trump, the king of bankruptcies, wants to cut government programmes to the tune of 1 trillion dollars per year. He wants to invest 1 trillion dollar in America’s ailing and failing infrastructure, hoping to raise jobs with that as well. He wants to create 25 million jobs. But how will he accomplish that? A trade war with China? How will he get rid of the debt? The US usually lets the rest of the world pay off its debt but even lowering it with 8 trillion dollar to get debt levels back to a manageable 60-80% of GDP would require a lot of institutions buying up a lot of debt and with Trump’s rethorics they might be reluctant.
And that is not to mention his foreign policy plans which nobody really knows what will be.
If you don’t understand Trump’s intentions, then perhaps instead of posting a long irrevelant missive about Obama’s failings you could ask someone to explain it to you.
Hahaha, I certainly won’t ask you since you are pretty irrelevant yourself. Especially when it comes to having a normal debate, with you throwing insults, being intolerant, and implicity and explicity asking for censorship.
You cannot understand the phenomenom of Trump’s presidency without understanding the role that Obama’s carnage played in that (I am sure you fell for his “hope and change” BS, twice). And that is also a source for his intentions.
Nor can you understand it without knowing how Clinton’s “pied piper” campaign strategy contributed it it. The Podesta emails clearly shows that Clinton along with CNN, NYT, WAPO & co deliberately targeted Trump in order to discredit the GOP. That plan completely backfired on them. Hilarious to see Wolf Blizter and others break down when the results came in.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that Trump is fit for the presidency. But so isn’t Clinton with her corruption, incapacity to relate to people and the blood on her hands. What this election exposed is the intimous relation between the Clintons, the DP, the DNC and the established media.
Regarding Trumps’s intentions: who knows? We will see if he is serious about “draining the swamp”. For now he has surrounded himself with Goldman Sachs people and military men. He will renegotiate trade agreements. TTIP is off the table, I think (and that is not a bd thing). He will make government smaller and will run a pro-life agenda. Europe is out for now. At least the EU and Merkel. Perhaps he will get buddy buddy with Putin. We will know after 100 days.
The only irrelevant person here is you, with your faked data and right wing views.
UNHCR fake data?
No, it are the left and left wing people like you that are becoming ever more irrelevant in the world. You’re out of touch with reality because your reality is based on a utopian idea that people are equal or can be made equal regardless of their capacities and social economic backgrounds. The only way you can make people equal is to force them to and in the end that won’t work either.
Socialism in the past was led by workers, union leaders or intellectuals that experienced extremely bad labour conditions and extreme poverty. They achieved big results but over the decades they got replaced by idealists from the babyboom generation that never experienced what their predecessors experienced. And they aliented themselves from their traditional power base: The workers. The left embraced globalisation -a neoliberal concept- because they thought it would bring about equality in the world. But it led to work being outsourced or be taken by migrants. The workers felt even more marginalized and if they said something about it the left would call them racists. It is exactly this base, and also the middle classes, that feel betrayed by the left.
Cause the left has become a bunch of self righteous, highly self opionated occupiers of the morale high ground and very intolerant of any other opinion than their own. Sounds familiar? Because it is you, a babyboomer, the most destructive generation ever to have walked the Earth with its me-me-me attitude.
I know plenty of them in my own country. Full of moral talk and how we should embrace the multicultural society (sure, why not) but who live in perfectly white neighbourhoods and who make sure that their children go to perfectly white schools. And when there is talk of an asylum center in their neighbourhood they go all “not in my bad yard”.
The fake data are from you, not UNHCR. You know nothing about the topic and claim to be expert.
~
And you have no idea either of what I believe in, or what I advocate as policy solutions for various problems. How dare you tell me what I thik and what is wrong with it! Pure arrogance and propaganda.
~
If you have nothing to post other than right wing crap, don’t bother posting it.
Meh. “How dare you to tell me what to write here”. Or others for that matter. You want to censor people all the time here because you don’t like what they write.
Nope, wrong again. I took the data from the UNHCR site, as I told youso many times. I took their excell sheets and made calculations that any high school student can do to come to averages and precentages. You just took the data that was listed on their homepage for the month November and claimed to be the average for the whole year.
I never claimed to be an expert. You claimed to be the expert with data that “the IMF and others think is the most reliable”, or similar words.
There is a video circulating on the internet about a SJW type of woman, a babyboomer, that is thrown off a plan after she started harrassing a Trump supporter. The guy did nothing to provoke her. A stewardess passes by and says to the woman “are you going to cause any problem?”. Then the woman says “I want this man moved, he is in my space”. Stewardess says “you don’t have that right”. And she is thrown off the plane along with her castrated husband.
She reminds me of you. Intolerant of others and wanting others to be censored.
The censor here is KTG
It is your site after all. But she had made implicit and explicit calls for censoring of people. Rather intolerant.
I’d rather say you are the moderator. Censor sounds so “Stasi” like.
Anyway, I will try to spare you from now on.
Are you really such a moron as to ascribe a gender to me, without asking? It shows the complete arrogance and lack of judgement that you exhibit. And try learning some Greek — and find the gender of “Xenos”.
I told you that I have the entire dataset of UNHCR for all of 2015 and 2016, for Greece and Italy. You made incorrect statements of fact, which I corrected. You then accused me of copying a time-limited page from the internet — after I told you that this is my professional work. You carry on with this nonsense, about how clever you are and I just copy pages from the internet. I do not think you are a moron: you are a right wing liar.
Well, I got the whole data set of 2015 from the UNHCR website (I did not look at 2016 because the discussion happened in 2015).
I see we are making progress here: at least I am not a moron. I don’t think you are a moron either and your intentions are probably good but you are wrong and delusional. As usual is with the left.
Next to that, however, you are quite rude and insulting, intolerant of other opinions, think you occupy the moral high ground and ask for censorship all the time. All the marks of a lefty SJW. Even if you were right -which you are not- your way of making your arguments and debating with others is rather dubious and typical of the intolerent SJW and Gutmensch crowd. The left can be quite irate and militant.
And I am really done with you. I will spare KTG. Don’t think I throw in the towel. You were quite entertaining for a while but now you are just boring.
And I thought it was Jet Blue and it was Ivonka
Sounds just like another bumfucked Krauts delirium.
For your notice: “Globalization” started long before internet with punk-rock-bands publishing and supporting their international culture world-wide via mix-tapes, records and fanzines and it was more or less non-profit.
All what came after this stole their ideas and perverted it into money money money
FYI, globalization has existed for centuries if not millennia in various ways. Trade routes between Europe and China (the Silk Route that China wants to reestablish); Europe and the East Indies; Europe-Africa-America (the so called golden triangle which included slave trade); etc. Even ancient Greece has a sort of globalization going on.
The globalization of the last period was just another episode in that evolution. That phase has ended for now. Glocalization is now the mantra but there will be another phase. It has its ups and downs, it has its winners and losers.
More rubbish. Trade is not globalization. Try reading some books about globalization and you might learn something. Even if you think it meant trade, there is a massive difference between trade of rare spices for the rich in the 18th century and the importation of cheap clothes and footwear and electrical goods and… from China for the poorest in Europe. There is also a massive difference between an economy importing about 5% of its sales from abroad, compared with current rates that are closer to 80% — e.g. the UK.
~
Globalisation is a problem, and it is not addressed by current policies. This is why the pig Trump got elected. A lot of poor white people are desperate and deluded enough to think that he will help them.
There can’t be globalization without trade, whether that is honest trade or unfair trade. Trade is the foundation on which globalization is based on. In fact, trade (and markets) has always been the foundation of socieites and of the relations between societies. Highly exploitative at times and the just-finished-wave of globalization was a neoliberal (embraced by the delusional left) race to the bottom that made the gap between the 99% and 1% only bigger.
Stick around with me, you might learn something. Nah, you will never learn.
Please just stop posting garbage. You don’t know what globalisation is, so either learn or shut up. And the sheer arrogance that you think you can tell me what globalisation is, when I lectured a university course on it for 10 years. Another Trumplet is what you are.
Okay, here is one more -in addition to the one below- because I cannot help it.
You trying to lecture and belittle me over what globalization is, is another example of the intellectual and moral superiority complex the Left has. Globalization is a complex set of concepts regarding the social-economical-cultural and political paradigm with which the world is governed. Trade is one of these aspects and a very important one because as the saying goes, “it is the economy, stupid”. Trade also involves migration but it is wrong to think that you can open floodgates and let people with hardly any skills in who then have to compete with the already present lower classes while at the same time their jobs are under threat of automation.
I will give globalization one thing: millions were lifted out of poverty and China developed a middle class. But at the expense of the lower and middle classes of the America and Europe. Putting these people away as “angry white men” is really demonizing people who have genuine concerns for their welfare and welbeing. It is like Clinton calling them “deplorables”. That really did her in actually. It is funny that people who call white people “angry white men” do love to use their inventions that make their lives so much more happier, longer and convenient. But if you say that you are a “white supremacist”. There are no superior races but there are superior cultures: the ones that left a God-focused paradigm behind and replaced it with a more realistic material world view. That also includes socialism which -along with capitalism- is a materialistic system: the superstructure built on an economic system (again it’s the “it’s the economy, stupid” meme).
The thing is, the left has lost that group of people and the moderate conservative right did not provide an alternative. So people flock to folks like Trump, Le Pen and Wilders (the latter btw. having economic ideas that are rather socialist). The “deplorables” have become “les miserables” and desperate enough to follow whomever promises them a golden future. And that is because the current policital and social elites can not provide them an alternative and demonizes them for having genuine concerns.
Globalisation is a flagship project of the neoliberal right. You are posting more crap as usual.
I saw things differently KTG. The speech was short and to the point, thank god. Instead of poets & opera singers there were prayers. The first choir was religious, then the Mormon Tabernacle choir sang America the Beautiful beautifully, and after the blessing the national anthem was played (& sung) simply and without the usual fanfare triumphalism. I found it humble and appropriate in comparison to the last 6 inaugurations which have been unending show-off occasions.
I’d be VERY happy to see a Greek leader – that the EU elites & oligarchs truly hate and want to kill – stand up & make such a declaration on behalf of greeks.
For the rest of the world he promised no more regime change, the end of ISIS terrorism, he said the US would respect that other countries have their interests too, and that the US would no longer pay for other countries defence which may mean NATO. Sounds like a radical & positive about-face and not before time!
And on top of that he gifted the world with the death of TPP. This is amazing! But which of course the oligarch MSM is maintaining Media Silence on. (Don’t report anything good about Trump or You’re Fired.)
He is basically promising to rebuild America, a country that has been hollowed out just like Greece has been. If the world financial system is going to crash soon, it sounds like a WISE investment. WE SHOULD BE SO LUCKY.
You have a very strange view of the inauguration of one of the most nasty and violent thugs to have reached the White House. There is a consensus on hte left, centre-left and even centre-right that this sort of mindless nationalism will have terrible consequences, including world depression and potentially wars if Trump actually carries out what he states.
~
The evidence is that he will. Already, he has started to roll back Obamacare — depriving uninsured citizens of the right to medical treatment, including cancer and all serious illnesses — and also ordered more military hardware.
~
Paying attention to the superficial aspects of formal events is not the correct way to analyse political change.
So he believes in god? This means he’s not reliable and belongs into a madhouse, also the America’s god is Manitou and he refuses to accept that, he does not belong into Amerika, he’s European and Christians should take their Asian hippie-terrorist-god and go back to Palestine.
Oh, just cool down, take it easy and relax for a while. Just watch the below video from 1.10 min onwards and have a smile. Donald may be terrible but Bill was unique!
What Trump trying to do is to stave off the discontent masses .. to reassure them some what .. to avoid an enraged stampede .. never turn your back on the masses for they will trample you to death.

So, then globalization is about trade after all because if it is a neoliberal flagship project as you say, then by definition it is about trade and commerce with the aim of maximising profits and minimising expenses.
That is however just one aspect. Then there are those that use globalization to drive their own agenda of a “one world” with one global government. There are the likes of Soros that made their fortune through capitalism trying to bring about “open societies” and a one world.
Globalization is a complex thing and power is never monolithic. Neoliberals and neo-marxist all hopped on the globalization bandwagon, all for their own purposes.
As usual you cannot come up with sound argumentation and you resort to your usual inflammatary rethorics.
You’re just like the rest of the left at this moment: unable to come up with answers so therefore you resort to insults and name calling.
You are just completely clueless. No, globalisation is about rapid and easy movement of capital — $500billion moved in an instant, as happened with an illegal transfer from Barclays to Greece about 5 years ago, It is about moving businesses in a virtual world, to minimise taxes with the agreement of right wing governments. It is also about money-laundering by companies, alongside aggressive action to stop terrorism movements from doing the same. It is about free movement across the globe of high-skilled people, almost without restriction — while the poor and refugees are locked into national boundaries.
You write your right wing ideological crap here, and have no clue about anything. My view is not derived from simplistic models: it is the result of wide reading and knowledge, along with awareness of all the models, including the neoliberal ones. Neoliberalism has shaped the entire world over the last three decades, and continues to do so. The only exceptions are the far right movements, especially Trump and his personal priorisation of racism-nationalism alongside the interests of big business.
Your childish comments about Soros and others reflect a very poor grasp of the world.
