An earthquake with magnitude 4.6 on the Richer scale occurred at 11:52 Tuesday morning, June 5 2018, in South Peloponnese.e The epicenter was in the sea of the Gulf of Lakonia, 35 km West of Neapoli and 21 km South of Gytheio.
Due to low depth at 5 km, the earthquake was felt in a large area, in Gytheio, Kalamata, Molaous, Neapoli, Kythira. The earthquake was apparently felt also in some areas of Athens.
According to Euro-Mediterranean Institute, the magnitude was 4.8 R, some other seismological institutes speak of magnitude 4.9 and even 5.1 R.
No injuries or material damage has been reported so far.
