Archaeological sites and museums in Greece will offer a series of events to celebrate the August Full Moon as every year since 2002. A total of 132 archaeological areas and museums participate part in the “Panselinos 2018” – Full Moon 2018 -, the event series initiated by the Greek Culture Ministry.
132 archaeological site and museums will be open until late at night on Sunday, August 26th 2018. Admission is free of charge.
In 95 of them, there will be a series of cultural activities: music concerts, dance and theater performances, poetry reading, arts shows, movies and guided tours.
The cultural activities will peak on the night of the full moon. In some areas will start already on Friday, August 24, in some others will be held on Monday, August 27.
Among the numerous events, the Palamidi Fortress in Nafplion will feature Greek songwriter Dionysis Savvopoulos, the Ancient Acropolis of Rhodes will host a concert with local performers, the Archaeological Museum of Mykonos will pay tribute to songs of the sea, the Athens Numismatic Museum will feature a jazz concert, and the Castle of Kalamata will screen Federico Fellini’s La Strada, notes gtp
The archaeological site of Cape Sounion will be open until midnight.
the Acropolis will remain open as usual until 8:00 pm.

The full moon events in August 2017 drew more than 75,000 people to archaeological areas, monuments and museums across the country.
