“Winter” is coming back to Greece and is expected to last until the end of March, according to the forecast of the National Observatory of Athens. The barometric low moves from south-west to the east with heavy rainfalls, temperature drop, snow and powerful winds up to 10 Beaufort.
The bad weather front is setting in on Wednesday (March 27) and is expected to last until the last day of the month, March 31, 2019.
Strong rainfalls are expected on the island of Crete.
Wind
Persistent stormy to very stormy north-east winds of 8-9 Beaufort and locally up to 10 B in the Aegean Sea, starting on Thursday, March 28 and lasting until Saturday noon, March 31.
Thursday, March 28: Initially up to 8 Beaufort in the Ionian Sea and up to 9 B in the Aegean. Locally up to 10 B in the central Aegean and south Peloponnese.
Temperature
Gradual decrease by 2-3 degrees Celsius every day.
Maximum temperature is temperature is expected to reach 10° C to 12° C, while the minimum will reach -3° to -4° C.

The more extreme weather phenomena will affect mainly the central and southern parts of the country, including Crete.
Snow is expected on the mountainous regions of Central and North Greece at altitude above 700 m.
