Ferries and ships will remain docked at Greek ports for 24 hours after the Greek Seamen Federation PNO decided today to launch a strike scheduled for Wednesday, July 3, 2019.
The PNO meeting was held in order for the federation to examine the new proposals by ship owners for the collective bargain.
Apparently the proposals were not satisfying and the federation decided to go on a 24-hour strike amid the touristic season.
Usually such strikes begin 00:01 and end at midnight on the same day.
Small ships normally operate locally during strike days.
At any case, contact local port authorities and travel agents if you plan to travel by ferry or ship on that day.

We were due to travel by ferry from Milos to Santorini on the 3rd July to catch our return flight on the same day. In view of the strike threat and to be safe, we changed the ferry journey to the 2nd and booked an overnight hotel in Santorini. The Sea Jet agent charged us an additional 20 euros each and still managed to spell our names wrong on the new tickets saying that it doesn’t matter. Customer service? I do not think so!
