We in Greece have managed so far to escape the heatwaves of June but the pleasant weather days seem to be over. A mini heatwave with temperatures to reach 39 degrees Celsius is forecast to hit the country from today, Tuesday. On the bright side though, it will last just two days, meteorologists have said, and a slight drop is expected from Thursday, July 2, 2026.

This morning, Kitty didn’t bother even to have breakfast. She has been laying under the couch for hours. she doesn’t move, just opens her eyes when I call her. Understandable then she is 11+ years old. In the balcony, in the shade it was 33°C at 12:20 and it’s 36°C now, at 13:50. A/C is inevitable today.
According to the meteo service of the National Observatory of Athens temperatures over 37°C were recorded at 16:40 yesterday, Monday, June 29 in western and northern Greece.
Weather forecast
The temperature will reach 39 degrees Celsius today, Tuesday, June 30, and tomorrow, Wednesday, July 1.
However, according to the weather forecast, the phenomenon will not have the same intensity as in Europe, while rainfalls are expected in several areas of the country.
The weather will be unstable throughout the week with high but not extreme temperatures due to the heat wave.
The weather will be generally clear today, with temporary cloudiness during the midday and afternoon hours in the mainland, with local showers and isolated storms mainly in Epirus, western and central Macedonia and the mountainous areas of western Central and western Peloponnese, according to the forecast of the National Meteorological Service EMY.
Winds will blow from northerly directions 3 to 5 Beaufort and in the Aegean Sea locally 6 Beaufort.
The temperature will not change significantly. It will reach 30 to 32 degrees in the northern Aegean and the Cyclades, 34 to 36 in the remaining areas and locally 37 degrees Celsius in the mainland.
