Greek Solidarity Initiative for Venezuela calls for Humanitarian Aid donations

The HELPHELLAS Volunteer Academy, the HELPHELLAS National Volunteer Coordination Center (ESKETH) and the HELLAS HELPBANK Humanitarian Bank, announce the launch of the nationwide initiative #HELPVENEZUELA, with the aim of collecting and sending humanitarian aid from Greece to the suffering people of Venezuela following the two powerful earthquakes last week.

Venezuela is experiencing one of the most difficult humanitarian periods in its modern history. The already burdened social and economic situation has deteriorated dramatically after the devastating earthquakes of recent days, which caused thousands of victims, injuries, missing persons and extensive damage to infrastructure and housing. International organizations and states have already mobilized to provide emergency assistance, while millions of citizens continue to need humanitarian support.

HELPHELLAS, with a sense of responsibility and solidarity, calls on:

The Greek government, ministries and public bodies, local governments of the first and second degree, businesses and the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) departments, Chambers and the professional bodies, public benefit institutions and the organizations of the Civil Society, voluntary groups and collectives, Diaspora Greeks and every active citizen

to join forces in a common national effort of humanity and contribution.

According to the HELPVENEZUELA announcement, the following items are being collected:

  • Isotonic drinks
  • Long-life juices
  • Health and pharmaceutical materials
  • Sterile gauze
  • Bandages
  • Adhesive patches
  • Antiseptics
  • Disposable gloves

“We are in contact with the Venezuelan Embassy in Athens and have informed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of all our actions and we hope that our mission will be placed under the official auspices of the Greek State, so that humanitarian aid from Greece can reach there, as a national mission from our country,” the statement said among others.
