The government plans to launch online bookkeeping, Finance Minister Christos Staikouras revealed on Thursday. The platform is to slowly be launched as of the last quarter of 2019 and be in full operation by 2020.
All businesses and freelancers can fill-in their tax books electronically and directly in the TaxisNet online system.
The new system aims at simplifying procedures, reducing bureaucracy and reducing tax evasion.
Electronic bookkeeping, Staikouras said, automates completion and submission processes, reduces management costs for businesses, eliminates supplier-client aggregation, accelerates tax refunds, and strengthens case-per-case control.
He stressed that this measure is part of the digitization of all citizen-to-state transactions, and will contribute significantly in reducing tax evasion.
Due for release on the government’s public debate fora in early September, Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) Director Giorgos Pitsilis presented details of how the new electronic bookkeeping system works, and announced a new online platform called ‘My Data.’
In the online platform, every business and professional will receive a unique ‘MARK’ personal identification-registration number. Businesses and professionals will be able to submit their invoices, which will be automatically registered in their electronic book-keeping profile. [amna.gr]
