An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale rattled the island of Crete on Tuesday afternoon. Τhe Greek Geodynamics Institute gives the tremor magnitude as 4.1 R, other international institutes as 4.2R
The earthquake occurred short after 3:00 p.m. with its epicenter to be located in the sea area, 38 km North of the city of Heraklio.
Its focal depth was 60 km.
According to preliminary reports, nobody was injured and no material damage has been recorded.
