Barometric low “Hephaistion” is gradually moving to the East of Greece, with rainfalls and sporadic thunderstorms in the eastern and southern Aegean Sea, heavy snowfalls on the mountains of Crete and gale force winds. Ferries remain docked.

For the third consecutive days, ferries remain docked at the ports of Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio in Attica due to winds blowing in the Aegean Sea with intensity of up to 10-11 Beaufort.
Rainfalls and snowfalls even in low altitude areas locally are forecast in Viotia and Attica Prefecture as well as on Evia on tuesday.

Tuesday, Jan 7
Snowfalls even in low altitude of 200-400 m are forecast for the regions of East Sterea, Attica, Evia, islands of North and East Aegean Sea as well in mountainous and semi-mountainous regions of Crete. Also rain and thunderstorms.
Frost mainly in the mainland, very strong in Central Greece in the morning and evening hours.

Winds
Gale-force north winds will continue to blow with intensity of up to 10 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea also on Tuesday. A possible weakening of intensity by 1 Beaufort is expected as of Tuesday night.
Banning of ferries sailing is in effect still Tuesday noon, an update is expected around 10 p.m. Tuesday. Travelers are urged to contact local port authorities and travel agents.

Temperature remains low on Tuesday with the lowest to have been recorded in Mavrolithari, Florina -12.6 C, Pertouli, Trikala -10 C, Vlasti, Kozani -9.5 C, Grevena – 8.1C
