An earthquake hit with 4.8 Richter the island of Karpathos early Friday evening. Its epicenter was in the maritime area, 39km North-West of the island.
The focal depth of the tremor that stroke at 6:02 p.m. was 12.6 km.
The tremor was strong and was felt also on the islands of Crete, and Kasos.
No injuries or material damages were reported.
Several earthquakes occurred in the maritime area off Karpathos last month with the strongest to be 5.2 R.
The Hellenic Arch is south of the islands.
