Greece has announced additional preventing measures to protect vulnerable groups after the number of coronavirus infections rose to 73, with 7 new cases to have been confirmed on Sunday. Late Saturday night, the total cases throughout the country were 66.
Six of the seven new cases are linked to previous cases of Covid-19.
The 7th new cases was not in contact with any of the infected; authorities are tracking the patients contacts.
In the last 24 hours, a total of 363 people were tested negative on coronavirus. Majority of them were contacts of the pilgrims to the Holy Land (Israel) and Egypt.
The 67-year-old man remains intubated in the university hospital of Paras, his health condition is described as “very serious.”
Greece health authorities announced additional preventive measures to protect vulnerable groups of the society. The following measures are to be implemented across the country as of Monday, March 9, 2020.
– Suspension of the operation of daily centers for seniors (KAPI): for 4 weeks
– Suspension of conference event: for 4 weeks
– Suspension of all school excursions within the country: for 2 weeks
-Sports events to be without fans and behind closed doors: for 2 weeks
Authorities will re-access the measures after the scheduled time.
Greek media have shown disinfection teams working in public buildings in several municipalities.
