18 new confirmed cases and one more death in the past 24 hours have increased the number of total infections to 2,744 and the death toll to 152, Greece’s health authorities announced on Tuesday.
Eleven of the new confirmed cases were detected in a Roma settlement in Larissa, central Greece. Seven are reportedly members of one family.
608 of the total infections are related to travel abroad and 1,378 to confirmed cases in the country.
32 patients are intubated in hospitals intensive care units. Their average age is 67 and 11 of them are women. 97% of them have an underlying health problem or are over 70 years old.
88 patients in total have been discharged from the ICUs.
Among the 152 deceased were 40 women.
Average age of the deceased was 75.
93.4% of them had underlying health issues and/or were over 70 years old.
Spokesman of National Health Organization and Professor of Infectious Diseases, Sotiris Tsiodras said during the briefing on Tuesday, that the virus most likely entered Greece in mid-February and existed at least 10 days before the first case was recorded.
