They demand that restrictive measures are imposed in the whole prefecture. The area was placed in quarantine in April.

Professor for Infectious Diseases Sotiris Tsiodras and head of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias visited the area today and conducted inspections.

Tsiodras said during a press conference that virus transmission is more easy from asymptomatic people, especially in closed spaces..

Urging residents to keep up with hygiene and social distancing, Tsiodras noted that there is fatigue among the population after the lockdown. He added that this was “understandable, but it is a pity if the whole effort would be wasted.”

Health experts are warning of an increase of coronavirus infections in the next two weeks due to relaxation of protective measures, “imported” cases and crowding phenomena mostly in bars.
