209 new confirmed coronavirus cases and 3 more deaths have been recorded in Greece in the last 24 hours. According to health authorities on Friday, the number of total infections surpassed 8,000 and reached 8,138.
Three more deaths raised the death toll to 238. Among the latest victims is an 85-year-old woman and a 68-year-old man with underlying health issues, but also a 52-year-old man without any underlying health problems.
Restrictive measures in 3 regional units in Western Macedonia
Due to epidemiological load and increase of infections, the Civil Protection imposed restrictive measures to three regional unit sin western Macedonia. In Karditsa, Pella and Pieria, restaurants and bars will have to shut down from midnight until 7 o’ clock next morning.
Participation of people in social events is limited to 50.
The measures go into force at 6 am Saturday, August 22 and for 10 days, until 6 am Tuesday, September 1, 2020.
It is recalled that stricter restrictive measures have gone into force on Mykonos and in Halkikidi as of Friday, August 21, 2020.
The majority of the new cases announced on Friday are again local residents, while 17 were detected among travelers.
The number of infected in the nursing home in Evosmos, Thessaloniki, has risen to 26 and in the nursing home in Asvestohori to 42.
Of the total8,138 cases recorded in Greece since the outbreak in late February 1,802 (22.1%) are related to travel abroad and 3,752 (46%) are related to already known case.
According to the official daily bulletin on Friday, the number of intubated patients in ICUs is 28 (from 30 a day earlier.) Their average age is 68, among them are 6 women. 46.7% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.
143 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
Officially the deaths are at 238. Of these, 83 were women. Their average age was 77 and 94.5% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.

Total tests since begin of outbreak is 826,804 with 8,906(1.7%) of them being positive. These data includes several tests carried out in one patient as well.

Of the 209 new coronavirus cases, 192 are domestic, of them 24 are linked to recent travel within the country and 5 with known clusters.
11 of them were detected at entry points and another 6 travellers sought laboratories after they developed symptoms.

70 firefighters from the Fire Service in Koropi, Attica, have been placed in isolation, after one of them who returned form vacations was tested positive.
