A canning company in Skydra in the Prefecture of Pella, western Macedonia, was ordered to shut down and stop all operations on Friday after 114 confirmed cases of coronavirus were detected among its staff.
The operation of the entire company has been suspended, including all its infrastructure and facilities and all areas it uses in any capacity, in order to contain the serious public health threat and the spread of the coronavirus, the Civil Protection said in a statement.
Teams from the National Health Care Organization EODY have started the contacts tracking of the confirmed cases.
The majority of the confirmed cases are reportedly asymptomatic.
According to ANT1 TV, two workers were tested positive two days ago.
The factory in Mavrovouni has over 500 workers. Some of those tested negative went to work on Friday morning only to find out that they had to return home.
The shut down of the canning factory is effective for 10 days, from Friday, October 2, until noon October 11, 2020.
