A 15-year-old girl, her 17-year-old friend and a 16-year-old boy have been arrested for the brutal murder of a 50-year-old woman, the mother of the girl. The victim was found by police in her home with her hands and feet bound in her home in Agia Varvara, western Athens on Friday night. The woman was stabbed dozens of times.
Her daughter had disappeared.
Police located the girl and her boy friend in an abandoned car in the city of Serres, northern Greece, on Sunday. Media said that the two had traveled to the city of over 600 km away from the Greek capital with public transport means. They were trying to flee Greece for Romania the home country of the boy friend.
On Monday, a third teenager, a 16-year-old Greek, surrendered to police at the police station of Loutraki.
Police said that the suspects used the victim’s bank cards for withdrawals from several ATMs and that these transactions helped investigators to track down the teenager killers.
Investigation continues to find out who was the suspect who killed the woman “with over 70 stabs,” as media reported.
“She was my mother, I couldn’t kill her myself,” the girl reportedly told police.
The 16-year-old boy has reportedly confessed to have stabbed the victim several times while the girl’s boy friend was holding her down with a pillow on her face.
Investigators believe that the woman’s daughter was watching when the two boy were killing her mother, that she plotted the crime and is responsible for putting the two boys up to it.
Her boy friend was a friend of the 16-year-old.
The teenager daughter has reportedly told police that “she was suffering under the mother” and her relationship with her was very tense after her father died a year ago. The mother had allegedly tried to restrict her and had threatened her to send her to a juvenile facility.
Media reported also that the girl and her boy friend had previously tried to murder the mother with pills in her coffee. But the woman survived.
A case file was opened and submitted to the Athens prosecutor for juveniles.
