The new significant lower prices for molecular PCR tests and Rapid tests at private laboratories lasted less than week after the Development Ministry announced them. The Ministry quickly bowed to the strong reactions of the sector that threatened to stop carry out such tests.
10 euros were added to the originally planned ‘cap’ price of the Rapid Test and another 20 to the PCR.
According to the Ministerial decision published on the official gazette on Monday, the new prices are:
€60 for PCR
€20 for Rapid Test
The Ministry justifies the extra euros separating the price into : ‘sample taking’ and ‘services’ which is the analysis of the sample.
A fine of 5,000 euros will be imposed to private laboratories, hospitals and clinics that do not comply with the new price set.
