Greece’s health authorities announced on Tuesday, 1240 new coronavirus cases and 98 deaths in the past 24 hours. 550 Covid-19 patients are intubated in hospitals across the country.
Death toll has reached 3,785 and the total cases stand at 126,372.


The new cases announced on Tuesday are the so-called “correction” due to fewer tests and/or registration by the National Health System EODY over the weekend.
While retail stores remain close over the Christmas period, the government decided on Tuesday to allow dozens of believers attend the festive religious services on three days.

According to the official daily bulletin on Tuesday, 5143(4.1%) of the total coronavirus cases are related to travel abroad and 36203 (28.6%) are related to already known infection case.
The remaining infections are without known source.
52.5% of the infected are men.
The number of intubated patients in ICUs stands at 550 from 558 a day earlier. Their average age is 67, among them are 166 women. 77.5% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.
The number of intubated Covid-19 patients hardly surpasses 600 due to the capacity in the country’s hospitals.
755 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.
Another 98 deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 3785. Of the deceased 1512 (39.9%) were women. The average age of the deceased was 79 and 95.6% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.
Rolling weekly average cases at 1196 from 1522 last week.
Total tests since begin of the outbreak are 2,607,015 PCR and 367,737 Rapid AG tests

Tests in the last 24 hours: 17,577 with 7.05% οf them positive. A good, normal number with less reason for concerns is when positive is below 2%.

14 of the new cases were detected at entry points; another 3 travelers already in the country sought laboratories after they developed symptoms.
