Police in Thessaloniki has arrested two juveniles for the violent death of a 87-year-old man during a robbery. The 14-year-old boy and his 12-year-old sister broke in the man’s house on December 2.
They were taken into custody on Friday, Dec 18, after they were reportedly identified from CCTV footage and witness testimonies.
The victim died in hospital three days succumbing to the injuries he suffered from punches, kicks and a sharp instrument.
Police believe the suspects seized the weapon from the man after he tried to stop them from burglarizing his house.
After hitting the man several times in the face and body, the pair allegedly made off with 250 euros in cash and a gold chain.
Speaking to media, the victim’s daughter said that her father kept the money at home to pay the care home for her mother who is with dementia in a care home.
The 45-year-old grandmother of the two juveniles and her 40-year-old partner, believed to have acted as lookouts. They have been arrested as accomplices to the act.
The boy and the girl were taken to a juvenile facility.
