Greece records 390 new cases, 36 deaths, 421 intubations

Greece’s health authorities announced on Sunday, 390 new coronavirus cases and 36 more deaths in the past 24 hours. The number of Covid-19 patients intubated in hospitals across the country stands at 421.

Death toll has reached 4,957 and the total cases stand at 140,099.

It is the first time since Nov 14, that the number of daily deaths fell below 40.

The mutated Covid-19 strain was detected in travelers who came to Greece from UK.

According to the official daily bulletin on Sunday, 5463(3.9%) of the total coronavirus cases are related to travel abroad and 41926 (29.9%) are related to already known infection case.

The remaining infections are without known source.

52.3% of the infected are men.

The number of intubated patients in ICUs stands at 421 from 431 a day earlier. Their average age is 67, among them are 282 (67%) men. 79.8% have underlying health problems or are aged over 70.

897 people have been discharged from ICUs since the start of the pandemic in Greece.

Another 36 deaths in the last 24 hours increased death toll to 4957. Of the deceased 2.938 (59.3%) were men. The average age of the deceased was 79 and 95.5% of the deceased had an underlying condition or/and was over 70 years old.

Rolling weekly average cases at 664 from 630 last week.

Total tests since begin of the outbreak are 2825227 PCR and 599292 Rapid Ag tests

Tests in the last 24 hours: 4,366.

Positivity PCR+Rapid tests: 4.59%

Rt: 0.71

Daily growth at +0.3%

Of the 390 new coronavirus cases, 3 were detected at the country’s entry points.

3 of the new cases were detected at entry points, 3 more travelers were already in the country.
