At the live briefing on Friday, health experts warned of infections in Attica where the Rt is 0.91.
Authorities placed the Municipality of Acharnes, suburb of Athens, in tougher restrictions as there are 166 active cases and 242 close contacts in quarantine.
Tougher restrictions in the Municipality of Elefsiona, west Attica, have been reportedly lifted, while in Aspropyrgos are extended until Jan 25, 2021.
Also in Kozani, western Macedonia, the tougher restrictions are lifted because some mistakes in the infections registrations had given wrong epidemiological data.
Greece shows an improved picture in relation to new cases, but there are still areas with outbreaks causing concern to health authorities. Several regions and municipalities across the country have been placed in tougher lockdown restrictions.
Due to the improved epidemiological picture in the country, the government decided to open again retail stores, services and churches from January 18, 2021, thus maintaining some lockdown restrictions. Details here.
