With folklore dance and water arches, locals welcomed tourists and cruise ships to the Greek islands. Shortly before 10 o’ clock on Friday morning, tug boats welcomes the first two cruise ships at the port of Souda in Chania, Crete.
These are the “Silver Explorer” and the “Silver Moon” which sailed to the port of Souda without visitors, in order to make the necessary preparations to start the cruises after the opening of the season.
On the island of Rhodes, dancers and musicians welcome the first organized tourists’ groups that arrived on the island on Thursday. Five flights came from Tel Aviv, one from Paris and one from Brussels.
The opening of the tourism season has brought smiles to the residents of Greek islands, even if not all the hotels have opened in May.
Mass tourists’ arrivals are expected from June.
