Greece registers 1,007 new coronavirus cases, 41 deaths in 24 hours; fewer tests due to weekend

Greece’s health authorities announced on Monday evening 1,007 new coronavirus cases and 41 Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients has further decreased to 481.

Again the number of PRC and Rapid tests were several thousands fewer than usual due to the weekend.

Note that since the self-tests were introduced for several sectors of the economy and in schools, the number of infections in young generation increased.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 402,306 infections (daily change: +0.3%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 23 infections are related to travel from abroad and  1865 to other confirmed cases.

51.2% of the infected are men.

There are 41 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total of pandemic victims to 12,095. Of these, 95.5% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.

A total of 481 Covid-patients -from 497 a day earlier – are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 67 years. 60.3% are men. 86.7% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.

2,429 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

151 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: -23.74%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 205.

The median age of new infections is 44 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 79 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

Of the 1007 new cases, 1 were detected at the entrance gates of the country and 0 among travelers already in the country.
