Greece considers privileges for the fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (POLL)

Greece is considering to grant privileges to persons who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, Developement Minister Adonis Georgriadis said on Monday.

Speaking to Skai Radio, the minister said that this could take place in 2-3 weeks, when there are enough vaccine supplies.

“We need to be certain that one did not get vaccinated because one did not want to do so, not because one could not schedule a vaccination appointment,” he added.

He did not specified all the privileges under consideration but he said on the table were:

  • lifting of the mandatory self-tests and rapid tests (for certain activities like travel)
  • indoors sitting in cafes and restaurants
The Minister said that there is a debate about privileges for the inoculated worldwide.
Georgiadis added that all 398 Covid-patients intubated in hospitals Intensive Care Units were not vaccinated.

The debate on privileges for inoculated persons started over the weekend with first leaks to the media. Privileges under consideration are also access to gyms, winter cinemas etc and the not wearing of obligatory face mask as from early autumn, ANT1 TV reported.

On Sunday, Deputy Interior Minister Stelios Petsas said that giving special privileges to vaccinated persons could be used as an incentive to boost Greece’s nationwide inoculation program.

Inoculated are considered those who had two doses of vaccines Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna and one dose of Johnson&Johnson.

It should be noted, though, that there are people who cannot receive vaccination for several health reasons and that children and teenagers are not on vaccination program.

PS in the end of the day, though, what they sell as “privileges” are our fundamental rights in the countries they proclaim “all citizens are equal.”

    • Got exactly the same problem as Kay Marsh. Applied online 3 times, receipts each time but no number. Partner got his number back within 3 weeks of first application.

  1. Every choice that we make has consequences. Those who make the choice not to be vaccinated have to accept that there may be unpleasant consequences arising from that choice. You cannot have your cake and eat it as well.

    • Those who make the choice to be vaccinated have to accept that there may be unpleasant consequences arising from that choice – if, indeed you did make the choice, as opposed to being told what to do.

    • To be vaccinated or not: herd immunity versus herd mentality? Anyway, giving some peope privileges and others not is unconstitutional and will be challenged at the European Court of Justice.

  2. If a person is fully vaccinated they don’t have to do a self test to travel in Greece already. This is not a new privilege.

  3. k the trouble to be vaccinated to protect me and other from getting covid if those who do not are not equal in careing for others just being selfish the side effects are small if any i didnot have any had both

  4. Instead of all these different plans, maps and figures that are seldom consistent could some Responsible Official please take charge and concentrate on issuing the Temporary AMKA numbers so those people who have houses in Greece, therefore pay tax, support the economy and add to the tourist industry by having family and friends visit them can finally get their long awaited vaccination. Many of these people, like my own relatives are over 60, and are desperate to be vaccinated. Excuses of not being able to identify these individuals is ridiculous they have ΑΜΦ, passports, utility bills and addresses.
