Infections rise triggers higher turnout for free Rapid tests in Athens southern suburbs

The sharp increase in Covid-19 cases reported the previous day has resulted in a much higher turnout by the public for free rapid tests offered by National Public Health Organization (EODY) mobile teams in the southern suburbs of Athens on Wednesday.

In the coastal suburb of Glyfada, the municipality officially announced an 8.49% increase in positive tests, the highest rate since the start of the pandemic.

According to local media, of the 318 Rapid tests carried out by EODY mobile teams on Tuesday, 27 were found positive to Covid-19 and were sent to further test with molecular PCR.

The entire municipality is on high alert.

Free rapid tests are being carried out daily in Glyfada between 8:00 in the morning and 13:00 in the afternoon, at different locations.
