As the rapid spread of coronavirus outbreaks continues and concerns about the Delta variant rise, owners of clubs and bars and the public defy the measures and the rules in an unusual “guerilla” war across the country.
Over the weekend, in several bars in Athens, crowds of people stood close to each other, without masks, while the music was on at the highest volume. Similar was the situation in Patras, where at least 15 club goers have been tested positive to Covid-19.

At the same time on the island of Crete, where the Delta variant has a confirmed its presence and the cases of coronavirus are increasing daily, and the clubs defy the rules for seated guests only, it rained fines and padlocks.
Eight bars were shut down for a week and fines raging from 2,000 to 5,000 euros were imposed.
The owner of a hotel in Heraklio was arrested for organizing a baptism reception with much more guests than allowed.
It is recalled that since Thursday, July 8, the new measures for restaurants and nightlife have entered into force, which, among other things, provide for severe penalties. At the same time, in order to comply with these measures, there are dozens of police officers on the street carrying out sweeping control checks.
In the light of the data this week, where daily infections hit new records, the government and country’s epidemiologist are reviewing the new model according to which restaurants and other facilities will be allowed to open their indoor spaces to the public.
All parameters will be weighted before the “green light” is scheduled to be give for operation from July 15, 2021.

Unbelievable!! After nearly 2 years people still dont understand the danger of this damned virus! And even worse, by their behavior they will be the cause that the tourists will not come and they litterary tear the bread out of tourist dependent businesses owners mouth.
