Two hotels close to the fire front were evacuated on Thursday afternoon on the island of Samos where a wildfire has been raging since the morning.
The fire broke out in the forest of the area Vourliotes in the east of the island.

The order for evauation was given by the Fire Service for preventive reasons.
There are currently over 37 firefighters with 15 fire trucks, volunteers and water trucks from the municipality operating in the area.
Their work is assisted with aerial means.
However, later in the afternoon, also the village Kokkari was ordered to evacuate as the fire was still raging out of control.
