Femicide Forensic Report: Victim “was beaten, dragged on the rocks and thrown off the cliff”

The forensic report of latest femicide victim Garyfallia Psarakou was concluded on Thursday and it is shocking. The 26-year-old was beaten, was dragged on the rocky surface of Folegandros and then was thrown off the cliff into the water, media report. the forensic findings refute the claims of the 30-year-old confessed murderer currently held at the police station of the island of Naxos.

According to information obtained by Mega TV, the medical examiner found out, among others, that the victim’s head injury were the result of a punch.

The marks from the rocks on the young woman’s back were made after the young man dragged her over them and then probably lifted her body and threw her into the sea.

Garyfallia was alive but unconscious when the man threw her into the sea, as a result of which she drowned helplessly.

The forensic report will be reportedly submitted to the prosecutor once the result to toxicological examination are out.

Arrested by police on Saturday, the young man confessed to the murder, however, he claimed that he had just pushed her off the cliff following an argument and that he jumped into the water to rescue her. When he saw she was unconscious he just left.

He attributed the murder to a “bad moment.”

Meanwhile on Naxos, the arrested was briefly hospitalized and returned to police station on Thursday morning, short before appearing to testify. Some media reported that he attempted suicide with the bed sheet, other that he suffered an epileptic crisis.

He was found laying on the cell floor on Wednesday night and taken to Health Center. He was examined, received some medication and returned to the cell.

According to local media naxostimes, the doctors diagnosed “reduced level of consciousness.”

A group of people, mostly women, had gathered outside the justifiable building with banners reading “It wasn’t the bad moment, patriarchy kills.”

His lawyer have said that he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2014 and that he had stopped medication as it was negatively influenced him during work.

The lawyer told media on Thursday morning that before leaving the area of Corinth for vacations on Folegandros he had visited a psychiatrist “who unfortunately did not diagnosed the severeness of the disease,” so the lawyer.

The lawyer will ask for psychiatric examination for his client.

The man is to testify later today and the prosecutor will decide if he will remain in custody pending trial.

Garyfallia Psarakou was laid to rest on Tuesday in a climate of endless pain and a banner reading “No other Garyfallias” in the sense of no more femicide.

Garyfallia is the second woman within two months to be killed by her partner. In May, a 33-year-old man killed his 20-year-old wife and mother of an 11-year-old baby Caroline Crouch and staged a fake robbery scene.

  1. He is bipolar? I hope he will someone nice who will help him. Society needs to take mental health seriously!

    • I know many bipolar ppl, and they know the difference between right and wrong, whether they are medicated or not. It is possible that his condition contributed to his acts, but that does not make them excusable. Actually, I have witnessed many bipolar breakdowns. They tend to be manic episodes where they stop sleeping for days and then they crash and go into a depressive state. I’m sure the lawyer will say that he is not responsible bcz he has bipolar but this is a common condition. It could set a dangerous precedent. Should everyone with it not be held accountable from such behavior? And if so, should they be forcibly medicated or locked up? (The ppl I know who have it and won’t take meds said it’s their bodies, their choice, and they are not hurting anyone. If most ppl with bipolar don’t hurt others and this guy does, will the others be forced to medicate?)

  2. Cut off his right hand and left foot and put him on the street to be a beggar for the rest of this macho moron’s miserable life.

  3. A couple of years ago in Toronto, a young man got into a van and drove down the main street of Toronto. He used the van to kill 23 people, mainly women because he had been rejected by women for dates. He claimed himself an “incel” and the defense lawyer tried to use his autism and bipolar as an excuse. However, it was proven that he had planned the attack very much in advance and, like Jeannine says above, knew the difference between right and wrong. The accused said during trial that he ONLY stopped driving because he couldn’t see out the windshield any more after it had been hit by a cup of coffee (by someone he ran over). Otherwise, he was prepared to keep going.

This tendency to use mental health as an excuse is happening the world over. Let’s hope it goes the way of the “crime of passion” defense.
