Greece: 1,605 coronavirus cases, 10 deaths, 176 intubations; geo distribution

Greece’s health authorities announced on Sunday 1,605 new coronavirus cases and 10 Covid-related deaths in the past 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals Intensive Care Units increased further to 176.

Note that due to weekend, PCR and Rapid test are several thousands fewer than during the weekdays.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 494,907 infections (daily change: +0.3%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 155 infections are related to travel abroad and 1806 to other confirmed cases.

51.2% of the infected are men.

There are 10 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, the total of pandemic victims to 12,975.  Of these, 95.1% had an underlying condition and/or were 70 years old.

A total of 176 Covid-patients – from 172 a day earlier – are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 65 years. 64.2% are men. 83% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or more.

According to EODY, intubated Covid-patients based on age group are:

  • 18-39: 10
  • 40-64: 79
  • 65+  :  89

2,808 patients have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

163 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +7.95%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 172.

The median age of new infections is 41 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

Of the 1605 new cases, 12 were detected at the entrance gates of the country and 4 among travelers already in the country.
