A British-flagged yacht with 17 people on board sank some 16 nautical miles North-West of the island of Milos in the central Aegean Sea on Thursday morning, the Greek Coast Guard said. Search and Rescue operation is underway.

The circumstances of the accident were not immediately known and the Coast Guard said that they received a emergency call short before 10:30 a.m.
At the time of the shipwreck, winds were blowing with intensity of 4 to5 Beaufort.
There are no immediate details on the type of vessel involved other than it was 30-meter long, as state broadcaster ERT reported.
Three coast guard vessels, a navy and a coast guard helicopter as well as one commercial ship participate in the SAR operation.
