Greece: 2,218 coronavirus cases, 13 deaths, 250 intubations, geo distribution

Greece’s health authorities announces on Monday 2,218 coronavirus cases and 13 deaths in the last 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients increased to 250 from 241 a day earlier.

Note that the number of tests were several thousands fewer – almost half, indeed -than on normal working days and today is Monday of an extended weekend due to August 15th religious holiday.

Tests in last 24 hours:

PCR: 5,376 Rapid: 32,941

Positivity PCR & Rapid: 5.79%

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 539,337 infections (daily change: +0.4%). In the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 124 infections are related to travel from abroad and 1,569 to other confirmed cases.

13 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, bring the total of pandemic victims to 13,237. Of these, 95.2% had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

A total of 250 patients are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 64 years and 85.2% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over.

2,882 have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

224 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +6.16%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 233.

The median age of new infections is 40 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

Of the 2218 new coronavirus cases, 7 were detected at the country’s entry points and another 5 among travelers already in Greece.
