3,279 coronavirus cases, 38 deaths, 351 intubations; distribution in Greece

Greece’s health authorities announced on Wednesday 3,279 coronavirus cases and 38 deaths in the past 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid-patients in hospitals Intensive Care Units had slightly decreased to 351.

Health authorities updated COVID-MAP on Wednesday and placed , more regional units on a “higher” risk level. Health experts may consider new measures and an even higher level category.

In a rare appearance to public, the country’s top epidemiologist Sotiris Tsiodras presented a Greek study according to which the vaccination program averted 8,400 deaths and 5,560 hospitalizations in ICUs.

Since the pandemic began, Greece has confirmed 704,211 infections (daily change: +0.5%).

Of the confirmed cases of the last 7 days, 139 infections are related to travel from abroad and 2,400 to other confirmed cases.

Rolling average last 7 days: 2647 (2272 previous week)

Rt: 1.08 from 1.03 last week

38 Covid-deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, brought the total of pandemic victims to 15,485.  Of these, 95.3 had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

A total of 351 patients are intubated in hospitals ICUs, from 356 a day earlier. Their median age is 66 years, 65% are men.  81.5% have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over.

18-39: 9

40-64: 152

65+:    189

Of the total 351:

311 (88.6%) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated

40 (11.4%) are fully vaccinated.

3,259 intubated Covid-patients have been discharged from hospital ICUs sine the start of the pandemic.

213 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +10.94%). The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 207.

 

The median age of new infections is 39 years (range: 0.2 to 106 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).

Of the 3,279 new coronavirus cases, 6 were detected at the country’s entry gates and 12 among travelers already in Greece.

  1. It would be very interesting to know what percentage of the new cases are vaccinated and those unvaccinated. Why don’t they publish this statistic?
