Greece’s National Meteorological Service EMY issued a weather warning over the weekend with heavy rainfalls and thunderstorms and locally dense snowfalls.
The barometric low will affect mainly the West and the North of the country on Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6.
According latest forecast by the National Observatory of Athens, the rainfall phenomena are Category 3 based on the Regional Precipitation Index – RPI
The phenomena are forecast to gradually weaken from the West to the East during Clean Monday, March 7, 2022.

Saturday, Mar 5
Heavy rainfalls and intense thunderstorms mainly in the coastal areas from noon on in western Greece, central Sterea, western and central Macedonia, Thessaly, the Sporades islands.
From the evening on the islands of the north and eastern Aegean Sea, eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
Locally dense snowfalls in the mountains and peninsulas of Epirus, western and central Macedonia, as well
and in the mountains of central Sterea and Thessaly.
Sunday, Mar 6
Heavy rainfalls and intense thunderstorms mainly in the coastal areas in western Greece, central Sterea, Thessaly, the Sporades, Macedonia, Thrace, the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean Sea and the Dodecanese.
The intense phenomena will weaken by noon in the west and until the night in other areas.
Locally dense snowfalls until noon in the mountains and semi-mountains of Epirus, western and central Macedonia, as well as in the mountains of Thessaly. Until the evening also in the mountains and semi-mountains of eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
