Greece’s appointment platform for the 2nd booster dose (4th dose) of the vaccine against Covid-19, for the age group 70-79, opens on Wednesday, April 13, at the website emvolio.gov.gr.
On Friday, April 15, the platform will open for citizens aged 60-69.
On April 7, the platform was opened for people aged 80 and over and about 40,000 appointments have been made.
Immune-suppressive citizens have to opportunity to receive the 2nd booster shot since January 20.
The president of the National Vaccination Committee Maria Theodoridou has already stressed that immune-suppresive patients and elderly are at increased risk for serious sickness and side-effects from the Covid-19as such groups have lower immune response to the vaccination.
The 4th vaccine dose is expecting to decrease the risk of hospitalization.
The Vaccination Committee recommends mRNA vaccine from Pfizer and Moderna for the 2nd booster shot and in a period of at least 4 months after the 1st booster shot (3rd dose).
The 2nd booster is not mandatory and is not linked with the vaccination certificates.
Eligible for the 4th dose shot are around 1.3 million citizens in Greece over 60 years old.
