A 47-year-old Chinese national was arrested on Wednesday for the murder of a 38-year-old Chinese woman, whose body had been found by police two years ago in a forest area in Kaza Villia, Attica, the Greek Police has announced.
The body of the victim was found inside a suitcase on December 29,, 2020, over two months after the woman was reported as missing at the police station of Omonia Sq in downtown Athens.
According to police sources, the victim used to lend money to fellow nationals who were addicted to gambling, and she would demand high interest upon receiving the money back.
Sources added that the victim had lent the perpetrator some 10 thousand euros.
Media reported that the Chinese national is a businessman owners of several real estate properties the leases.
The man and the victim were seen together in a casino.
The man was led before an Athens prosecutor on Wednesday.
