A 4-year-old girl was airlifted from a boat south of Crete to the hospital of Chania, earlier on Tuesday. The child was onboard of a boat carrying migrants.
The girl was unconscious when the crew of a helicopter of the Greek Air Force picked her up.
The child was without food and water for several days and fainted, reports local media zarpenews..gr
Passengers of the boat where the girl was had sent a distress signal.
Greek authorities responded quickly and the helicopter was deployed to the area short time after.
However, despite the efforts by the hospital doctors the child could not be saved.
