+++ Plane crash on Athens-Lamia highway early Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters are rushing to the scene.
According to preliminary information,the crash occurred near the 96th km on the Athens-Lamia national highway, near Thiva, and the Fire Service was notified at 2:45 p.m.
The plane was a single-engine aircraft, most probably a Cessna.
State-broadcaster ERT reports citing Fire Service sources that the pilot, a man estimated 70-75 years old, has died in the crash.
it is not known whether other passengers were board.
Currently it is not clear whether motorists on the highway were affected and how.
It is also unclear whether the plane crashed after it took off from nearby airfield or the crash occurred as it was heading to land.

It has been confirmed that the pilot was the only passenger on the plane and that no motorist in the highway was harmed as the plane crashed near the fence of the Thiva flight club, as the video blow shows.
