Covid-vaccines for vulnerable children aged 6 months- 4 years

Children aged between 6 months and 4 years with underlying health conditions or that are immune-compromised should get inoculated against the coronavirus, Greece’s National Vaccination Committee recommended on Tuesday.

In a live briefing, committee head Maria Theodoridou also said that healthy children in the same age category could get vaccinated if parents wish so, following a recommendation by their own doctor.

She reiterated that the committee’s recommendation still stands for the booster vaccination of children aged 5-11 who belong to high-risk groups, three months after their basic vaccination.

Vaccines produced by Pfizer for children aged 6 months to 4 years are expected to be available soon, and so will the relevant online appointments-booking platform, said Primary Health Care Secretary General Marios Themistocleous at the briefing.

In Greece, Themistocleous said, over 21.6 million vaccinations have taken place and 72.7% of the general population has completed its two-dose vaccination.
