Gale-force winds disrupt sea traffic forcing ferries to remain docked

Gale-force winds of up to 9 Beaufort in the Aegean Sea have disrupted sea traffic, forcing ferries to remain docked on Tuesday

Ferries going to the Cyclades and the Dodecanese remained docked at the port of Piraeus, while a sailing ban is in effect also for the ports of Rafina and Lavrio.

The ferry lines Pachi (Megara), Faneromeni (Salamina) and Aghia Marina – Nea Styra are not operating.

Only closed-type ferries were sailing to the islands of the Saronic Gulf.

Passengers who are going to travel today should contact local port authorities and tourist agents before their departure for any changes or modifications to itineraries due to adverse weather conditions.

According to the weather warning issued by the National Meteorological Service EMY on Monday, the intense phenomena will be in effect also on january 11, 2023, when gale-force winds are forecast to prevail also in the Ionian Sea on Wednesday.
