Ferries, ships docked in Attica, islands due to gale-force winds

Ships and ferries remain docked at the Attica ports of Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio on Sunday, February 6, 2023due to gale-force winds reaching up to 9 and 10 Beaufort locally in the Aegean Sea.

Closed to sea traffic are reportedly also the lines Kyllini-Zakynthos in the Ionian Sea and Arkitsa-Edipsos in the Evia Gulf.

State broadcaster ERT reported that ships remain docked also at the port of Volos.

*** Passengers who are going to travel today, before their departure, should contact local port authorities and travel agents for any changes or modifications to the itineraries.

According to National Meteorological Service EMY, the powerful winds are forecast to weaken as of Tuesday, February 7.

It is recalled that the sailors’ union have declared a 48-hour strike on February 8-9.

Snow-weather “Barbara” is hitting central and south mainland since Sunday morning.
